Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I’m comparing my preliminary project to my music magazine. I have progressed with my layout and made it more professional than my preliminary and I’ve made it fill more of the page to have more for the audience to consume. I have made it how a music magazine produced now would look like, with the right features and content. With my contents page for my school magazine you can see that I haven’t included much on my page whereas in my music contents page I have included a editors letter, pictures and more information, which follows the codes and conventions of a music magazine. For both magazines we had to do research however my research for my music magazine was more informative and there was more to research for as I had to study the journalism. For my questionnaires I asked 30 people and with detailed more precise and relevant answers. I also researched similar media texts and other music interviews to find what others are like so I can take tips and ideas.
For my music magazine I planned my final product in better detail than my preliminary. I organised my photo shoot, planning my models, hair, pose, clothing, positioning and also I gacve myself lots of timing space for my photos to be edited and re done if they happened to go wrong.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Emap provides a range of different sectors within in the business. They are well known and successful. I would fit into the institution because there was already a similar magazine, ‘smash hits’  and they are already well established.
My genre of pop would suit this company as they have first hand experience in publishing pop magazines because of Smash hits.
I have chosen Emap as they are more suitable for my target audience as they provided a magazine similar to mine so would understand my product

Who would be the audience for your media product?

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challange forms and conventions of real media products?

How did you attract/address your audience?

In other sell lines I have used other music related topics like a music quiz to find out what singer you are most like. This will attract my audience as it’s something interesting to do and look forward to finding when they read on in my magazine and it might be someone they might idolise or like.
I have used eras bold as my font as this is simplistic and easy to read but also curved and round letters. I chose this font because it’s like bubble writing which is usually associated with pop music as they usually use it for titles and headings.
I wanted my page to look busy by using different font colours and sizes which will draw in my audience as they will be attracted to bright vibrant colours.
In my editors letter i have also used linguistic techniques such as a rhyme ‘fab and not drab’ this is catchy and memorable and will stand out to the readers
I have included my readers as much as i can by using words such as ‘You’ this is more relevant to them as they feel included.

How did your media product represent particular social groups?

On the front cover I have represented my target audience by linking my reader profiles likes. I have included top 5 five hairstyles celebs are wearing now, which links with their liking of making their hair trendy and nice. Also I have included top 10 songs in the charts with relates with their likes of new music. Also with the like of pop music I have used a pop duo to represent my social group.
The atrists I have used a new and popular as they have come number 1 in the charts which I write in my double page spread. By having a upbeat, fresh girl group it represents my audiences likes and interests in music as they prefer new songs that are successful, cool and trendy. In my double page spread I establish their relationship to their fans and show its very strong as they are very popular with them and appear to be admired by their fans and they admire their fans back. This is what a typical young teenagers like, a girl group to look up to and possibly copy their style and fashion because of their successful music.
